Sir Geoffrey Chaucer’s Life and Works A famous poet, which later know as the father of poetry, Sir Geufray Chaucer was born Around 1340 on Thames street London, England His father, Jon Chaucer, was a prosperous wine trader, and also the king's butler's vintner and deputy. It is believed that he received his early education at St. Paul's Cathedral From where 'he for the first time inspired by poetry the two famous books of poetry Virgil and Ovid Chaucer first appeared in the historical record in 1357 as a serving boy in the house of Princess Elizabeth, the wife of Prince Lionel who was the son of King Edward III. The Knight tells the first tale, a romantic tale of a love triangle between two knights and a woman they both love. He is considered a man of high repute, venerated and courteous.
